James Neal

James Rodney Neal Jr., age 75, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, in Neosho, Missouri. He was born July 4, 1947, in Ft. Bragg, California, the son of James Rodney Neal Sr. and Louise (Daugherty) Neal. 


On February 16, 1970, James married Catherine (Sayre) Neal in Miami, Oklahoma. 








James served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war; he was a bronze star recipient, and he also served in the Blackcat 13 Boat Unit. After the Military, he began his career as a truck driver for Sitton Motor Lines; he ended his career driving a school bus for the Neosho School District for five years. James was a family man. He loved spending time with his family, being outdoors hunting, fishing, camping, and model trains.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Brian Neal, Cathy (Robert) Stephens, and Lenny (Judy) Neal, fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, sister Virginia Wilder, and many nieces and nephews. 








He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Karen Depue, brothers Michael Neal and Kenneth Neal, daughter-in-law Charmaine Neal, and brother-in-law Gary Wilder.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Oakwood Cemetery in Neosho, Full Military Honors will be presented. Officiating will be John St. Clair. Robert Stephens, Josh Ogle, Scott Wilder, Jason Weisshaar, Lenny Neal, Blaine Neal, and Preston Neal will serve as pallbearers. Contributions may be made to the Faithful Friends Animal Advocates, 11281 Highway 86, Neosho, MO 64850.
