Eloise Schepper

(From Derfelt Funeral Home)

Lavetta "Eloise" Schepper, age 95 of Joplin, went home to be with the Lord at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Eloise was born in Marion, Indiana on October 7, 1927 to the union of Phillip Kearney Galligan and Mildred Minni (Oden) Galligan. After graduation, she spent many years in Marion where she worked for Indiana Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator during the era of the switchboard "tip and ring." She worked her way up to the business office where she worked as a Business account Manager before her retirement.

She and Ernest relocated to the Missouri area in late 1980's. She was skilled in sewing and crafting, evidenced by her beautiful work in cross stitching, quilting, and greeting card making. She was very active in her grandkids and great-grandkids lives and loved them dearly.

She was united in marriage with Ernest W. Schepper, Jr. on July 25, 1950 in Columbus, Indiana. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2020. After sharing a life of love for over 70 years, what a glorious reunion it must have been to meet in Heaven, together again for eternity.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents Phillip and Mildred Galligan; one son, Douglas Schepper; three brothers, Phillip Galligan, Robert Galligan, and Merrill Galligan; and one great-grandson, Bradley Schepper.

Survivors include two sons, David Schepper (wife, Becki) of Joplin, MO, and Dennis Schepper of Indianapolis, IN; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Kelly, Stacey, Paul, and Daniel, nine great-grand children, Makayla, Hannah, and Jordan; Natalie and Elijah; Caitlyn, Gabriel, and Breydon; and Kailaia; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Schepper has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. No services are planned at this time. In the future, burial will take place at the Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN.
