Jim Palmer

James Albert “Jim” Palmer, age 65, Joplin, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin.

Jim was born July 8, 1957 in Joplin, son of the late Doyle D. Palmer and Virginia (Garbacz) Palmer. He grew up in Joplin and graduated from Memorial High School before attending Missouri Southern State College. 

He has worked all of his adult life in automotive service and sales, working for many dealerships in the area, and most recently working with O’Reilly Auto Parts as a delivery driver. 








He enjoyed all things car related from attending car shows to helping his friends with their dirt track racing. He enjoyed drag racing for years before helping with the dirt track cars. He loved to go to the Chili Bowl in Tulsa, and attended races at many local tracks also. He was an avid bowler at one time, and loved to follow NASCAR. He was a proud member of the First Baptist Church in Diamond. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He especially enjoyed time with his grandson, Liam.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (Vangel) Palmer; two daughters, Gabby Martin and husband Cody of Aurora, Missouri, and Ashley Palmer of Columbia, Missouri; and his grandson, Liam Martin; a brother, Mike Palmer and wife Diane and their children, Christopher and wife Kendra and Christa Palmer all of Rogers, Arkansas; and many extended family and friends who loved him dearly.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Tivis Booth officiating.








The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday from 5:30 until service time, and the casket will be open during the visitation, and not open during or after the service.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Angel Fund at Diamond Schools or the Care to Learn Program at Monett Schools care of Parker Mortuary.

Cremation will follow the service, and a private inurnment of his ashes will occur at a later date in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
