Raymond Mitchell

Raymond Oliver Mitchell, age 78, of Joplin, MO. passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5th, 2022, at Mercy Hospital.

Raymond was born on October 22, 1944, in Little Rock, AR, the son of the late Oliver Mitchell and Irene Mitchell (Miller.) He graduated from York College in York Nebraska with his Associates degree. He also received a Preaching degree from Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, Texas. 

He married the love of his life Diana Jane Mitchell on August 15, 1965, in Commerce City, Colorado. Together they were blessed with three sons. 

Raymond was also one of the brave men and women to represent us during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Navy. He worked in Quality Control for the United Stated Post Office for many years as well.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Mitchell and Irene Mitchell (Miller), as well as one of his sons, Brian Mitchell of Bahama, North Carolina, one sister, Joy McCarthy of Helena, Montana and four grandsons, Neal, Jared, Alex and Matthew.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Diana Mitchell, Joplin Mo, two sons, Daren Mitchell, Mount Vernon, Mo and Scott Mitchell, Houston, TX; one sister, Julia Riell, Livermore, CA; six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
