Mike Denney

(From Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home)

Mike L. Denney, 54, of Joplin, MO, passed away Saturday, February 4th, 2023. He was born September 19th, 1968 to Walter “Glenn” and Kathryn Denney.

He graduated from Parkwood High School in 1986. Mike worked his way up quickly in the restaurant business starting at Garfield’s Restaurant & Pub in Joplin right out of high school.

He owned and operated several Garfield’s including one in Joplin, MO, Branson, MO, Pine Bluff, AR, and Greenville, MS. He accomplished his dream of opening his own franchise, Quincy Magoo’s, in Joplin and later one in Springfield, Missouri.

He was one of the most hospitable people you’ve ever met. He just wanted you to enjoy good food and put a smile on your face. Those of us who were lucky enough to be in his presence knew the impact he had on those around him. He was a true family man. He loved his children with all his heart and gave them an unforgettable childhood filled with countless memories.

A pet lover at heart, he took in several dogs over the years and spoiled them rotten. Mike was truly the life of the party and brought a smile to everyone’s face.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter “Glenn” Denney; and his grandparents, Bud and Grace Denney.

He is survived by his mother, Kathryn Denney-Hartgrove; children, Preston Denney and wife Courtney, Kenzie Denney, Keaton Denney, and Kenadee Denney, brother Pat Denney and wife Donna, brother Terry Denney and wife April, niece Chloe, and nephews Wyatt and Cash.

A Visitation will be held at 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Friday, February 10th, 2023 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home: 500 E. Walnut Street Springfield, MO 65806.

A Memorial Service will be at 11:30 am, Friday, February 10th, 2023 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home: 500 E. Walnut Street Springfield, MO 65806, with Pastor Phillip Wright presiding over services.
