Brian Giebler

(From Parker Mortuary)

Brian Richard Giebler was born July 21, 1950, in St. Louis, MO, to Gordon and Alice Giebler. He grew up on the family farm and attended Owensville High School. He earned a Bachelor of Scriptural Literature degree from St. Louis Christian College, and later a Masters degree from Loyola University.

Brian impacted many lives through his work with Christ In Youth; Central City Christian Church; Ozark Christian College; Ozark Center; First Christian Church, Fairland, OK; St. John’s/Mercy Hospital; and Park Plaza Christian Church. He remains loved and appreciated by friends, colleagues, and acquaintances in many places.

Brian was a devoted husband, father, minister, and chaplain who loved his Lord, his wife, his family, and his friends with selfless dedication. He had a deep appreciation for the beauty of wildlife and nature, and was especially fond of the American West, Colorado in particular. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, farming, reading, singing, and writing poetry.

Brian completed his earthly journey on July 24, 2014—earlier than any of his family or friends anticipated. He was preceded to Heaven by his parents and infant son Joshua. He is survived by his wife Cyndy, brother Russ (wife Sue) of Mt. Carmel, IL; brother Eric (wife Bev) of Leslie, MO; son Matt (wife Alison) of Greenwood, IN; son Jason (wife Sarah) of Neosho; son Adam (wife Amanda) of Joplin; daughter Eden (husband Joey) DeGonia of Marshall, MO; stepdaughter Ashley (husband Corey) Thomason of Memphis, TN; stepdaughter Bethany Belden of Joplin; and 18 grandchildren.

Brian’s wife and children invite friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating his life at a visitation from 5-8 PM on Monday, July 28, and a memorial service at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 29. Both will be held in the Ozark Christian College chapel (1111 N. Main St., Joplin, MO 64801).

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
