Judy A. Orton, age 58 of Joplin, Mo. passed away early Monday, July 21, 2014 at Joplin Health & Rehabilitation following a long illness.
Judy was born on August 7, 1955 in Joplin, the daughter of Ralph and Ila Mae (Bloodough) Purcell. She has been a lifetime area resident, where she worked as the church secretary at Mt. Hope Church of Christ for many years before her health forced her to retire. Judy enjoyed camping and canoeing, gardening, racquetball, tennis and swimming.
She is survived by her mother, two daughters; Lindsay Streem and her husband Brian of Chicago, Il., Allison Reid of Bridgeport, Ct., one grandson, David Streem Judy was preceded in death by her father, Ralph in 2007.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014 at Mt. Hope Church of Christ in Webb City, Mo. Burial will follow at Swares Prarie Cemetery . The family will receive friends during a time of visitation at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening. Memorial contributions may be given in Judy’s name to the Fairhaven Childrens Home in care of the Mortuary.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
