Jewell Wilson

Jewell Pauline Nunley Wilson, age 88 of Joplin, passed away at 8:22 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin following an illness.

 Born July 24, 1925 in Tulsa, OK, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin Nunley and Effie Lena Petty Nunley and had lived in Joplin the past five years. A homemaker most of her lifetime, she also worked as a secretary in her early years. She graduated from Apostolic Bible College in Tulsa. She was a quiet and extremely faithful member of Grace Church of Joplin.

 She married Alonzo E. Wilson August 2, 1949 at Tulsa. He survives. Additional survivors include a daughter, Pamla Childers and husband Orvan (Bud) of Chattanooga, TN; two brothers, James Nunley and wife Sue of California, Herbert Nunley and wife Jean of Texas; three grandsons, Timothy Childers and wife Terri of Wisconsin, Jason Childers and Marc Childers and wife Shenyle of Illinois; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Jewell was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest and a sister, Mary.

 Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Church of Joplin, 2601 Connecticut Ave. in Joplin with Dr. Gary W. Garrett officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. Monday, also at the church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Church of Joplin.
