Etta Ionie Toney, age 87, formerly of Joplin, passed away at 9:05 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Choctaw Memorial Hospital, Hugo.
Etta was born February 16, 1927 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late William Mann and Jessie Draffin Mann and had lived in Joplin most of her life before moving to Hugo several years ago. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing; reading and sewing.
She married Harvey Brooks Toney on November 12, 1942 in Joplin. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2002.
Etta was also preceded in death by three sisters, Lillie Mann, Bessie Dean, Edith Glidewell; and a half brother, Willie Mann.
Survivors include four children, Jessie Younger, Joplin, Sam Toney, Hugo, Oklahoma, David Toney and his wife, Debbie, Kansas City, Rebecca Murray, Fayetteville, North Carolina; one sister, Elvie Sadler, Little Rock, Arkansas; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Graveside services are planned for Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Ron Woody will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Toney, Keith Toney, Tiffany Toney, Roger Younger, Andy Younger and Chris Toney.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
