Karen Ruth Freeman Reed, age 47 of Joplin, passed away at 12:50 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Spring River Christian Village after a courageous 12-year battle with cancer.
Born November 21, 1966 in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late James F. Freeman and Anita Willems Freeman and was a lifelong Joplin resident. A graduate of Memorial High School in Joplin, she was a technician for Clark Dental Lab in Kansas City, MO for ten years. More importantly, she was a devoted and loving homemaker and mother. A member of The Way Ministry, she graduated from both the Foundational and Intermediate Classes.
Survivors include two sons, Neko Reed and Malcolm Reed, both of Joplin; a brother, Calvin Freeman and wife Nemy of Peculiar, MO; a sister, Kim Tisdale of Bentonville, AR; four nieces and nephews, Carley Tisdale, David Freeman, Tiffany Coleman and Katie Thrasher.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her stepmother, Sharon Freeman.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. The family will receive friends at the home, 218 S. Byers Ave., on Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friends may deliver flowers to this address also.
