Kelly Lynn Johnson, M.D., age 55, Joplin, passed away at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Freeman Hospital.
Kelly was born January 25, 1959 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Earl Johnson and Carole Sue Fleshman Johnson.
She was valedictorian at Putnam City West High School and received her Bachelor degree from the University of Oklahoma, Norman. She attended medical school at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and completed her residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. She worked as an anesthesiologist at Gray’s Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen, Washington and at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin.
Kelly stayed involved with her children’s activities; enjoyed crocheting; playing Sudoku; reading and listening to audio books; landscaping and home carpentry. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Survivors include her son, Logan DeByle; her daughter, Kyra DeByle; her parents, Carole and Earl Johnson, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three sisters, Linda Johnson, Hillsborough, North Carolina, Laurie Fujinami and her husband, Todd, Westminster, Colorado, Susan Wilson and her husband, Geoffrey, Pearland, Texas; and five surviving nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are planned for Monday at 4:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends following the services at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Haven of Southwest Missouri, 7th and Picher Ave, or to Main Street Pet Care Search and Rescue Fund, both in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
