Ida Lathrop Gilmore, 102, of Joplin, MO, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014, while at the Spring River Christian Village in Joplin.
Ida was born on November 28, 1911 in Long Run, MO, one of fifteen children born to the late John Rowland and Frances (Simpson) Rowland.
On July 21, 1928 in Taneyville, MO, Ida married Dee Lathrop. To this union, two children were born. Dee preceded her in death on April 14, 1962. On June 19, 1983, Ida married James Gilmore. Jim preceded her in death on October 15, 1998.
Ida was a homemaker, a wonderful mother and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Monett, MO.
Ida is survived by her daughter, Jean Landoll, of Monett; her son, Wayne Lathrop, of Lee’s Summit, MO; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gilmore will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Paul Lanning will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, 301 Euclid Ave, Monett, MO.
