Lila Marguerite Case, age 101, of Joplin, MO formerly of Commerce, OK passed away Friday July 4, 2014 at the Spring River Christian Village.
She was born on March 23, 1913 in Soldier, KS the daughter of Clarence B. and Cora A. “Osburn” Ramage. She married Howard Case on January 20, 1934 in Wellington, Ks, he preceded her in death in December of 1991 after 57 years of marriage. Lila taught piano lessons for many years and played the piano in her husband Howard’s band. While living in Commerce, Ok for many years she and Howard played music for area senior citizen centers, nursing homes and hootenannies. She loved playing the piano and sewing.
Also proceeding her in death are her parents; her step-mother Mable Ramage; a sister, Nellie Lucille Sturm; two brothers: Edgar (Ted) C. Ramage and Jack (Toby) Ramage. Survivors include a sister June Gillespie of Moline, KS; a brother-in-law Charles (Bud) Case of Goodman, MO; a cousin Eleanor Lewis of Raytown, Mo and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday July 8, 2014 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory with Pastor Shaun LePage officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 pm at the GAR Cemetery in Miami, OK. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society in care of the mortuary.
