Alice V. Scheffler, age 82, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 2:45 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 following a nine month illness. Alice was born November 7, 1931 in Big Springs, Nebraska. She moved to the Joplin area in 1976 from Denver, Colorado. Alice worked as a cook with Timber Ridge Nursing Center in Joplin, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Villa Heights Christian Church. Alice enjoyed traveling, gardening, and bird watching.
Alice married Earl D. Scheffler June 5, 1955 in Julesburg, Colorado and he survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Randy Scheffler and wife Janet, and Jonathan Scheffler, all of Joplin, four daughters, Barb Lewis and husband Bobby, Whitehall South Carolina, Beckie Forest and husband Chuck, and Trish Day and husband Danny, all of Joplin, and Karen Deering and husband Chuck, Neosho, Mo, two sisters, Caroline Lindauer and husband Keith, Long Beach, California, and Illene Dye, Issaqua, Washington, ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Memorial services are pending at the Villa Heights Christian Church with Truman Brady officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory of Joplin, Mo.
