Mary A. Ash, age 80, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 12:56 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at Mercy Hospital Joplin following a battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Mary was born June 15, 1934 in the Tipton Ford Community, South of Joplin to Bert and Minnie Rawlinson Bull. Mary was a graduate of Joplin High School. She was a Nursery School Teacher for Norma’s Nursery School, and Mrs. Hailey’s Nursery School. She later was the Secretary for the Y.W.C.A. and the Secretary for Lafayette Elementary School, retiring in 1987. Mary was a member of the North Main Street Baptist Church.
Mary married Donald “Don” Ash June 8, 1952 in Joplin and he survives. Additional survivors include a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Buck and husband Danny, and one son, Roger Ash and wife Shirley, all of Joplin, 3 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren, and one step great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Michael Ash, and a brother, Jesse “Bud” Bull.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jarel Burnside officiating. Memorial contributions are requested to the National Parkinson Foundation, in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
