Raymond Moyers

Raymond A. Moyers, age 86, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin following a sudden illness. Ray was born May 28, 1928 in Arlington, Kentucky to Bryan and Mattie Nicholson Moyers. He moved to Joplin in 1994. He was employed with the Wagner Electric Co. in St. Louis, Mo. for 36 years, and later drove for Yellow Freight Systems for 10 years, retiring in 1994. Ray was currently a member of the College Heights Christian Church, and a former member of the O Fallon, Mo. Christian Church and the Mid Rivers Christian Church in St. Peters, Mo. He was also a member of the NRA.

Ray married Anna Yancy June 21, 1947 in Arlington, Kentucky and she survives. Additional survivors include a daughter, Debbie Holbert and husband Stan, Garfield, Ark., two sons, Tom Moyers and wife Terry, Grant’s Pass, Or. and Kevin Moyers and wife Cindy, Ft. Scott, Ks., one sister, Kay Schell and husband Ray, Joplin, one brother, Leo Moyers and wife Shirley, Blue Eye, Mo., seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by a sister, Edwina Fortner and her husband Clinton.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the College Heights Christian Church Chapel with Rick Bushnell, Minister, officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Memorial contributions are requested to College Heights Christian Church, Good News Productions Intl., or Ozark Christian College, in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
