Ruth Parnell age 89, Joplin, MO. passed away Saturday July 5, 2014 following an illness.
She was born February 15, 1925 in Lamar, MO to John and Reva Wheat Davis.
Ruth was a life time area resident. She was a homemaker most of her life. In her later years she worked for Oxford Health Care. Ruth was a member of Harmony Heights Baptist Church.
She is survived by five sons from her first marriage; Jim Austin and wife Jan, Joplin, MO. Steve Austin and wife Karen, Joplin, MO., David Austin and wife Georgene, Neosho, MO., Mark Austin and wife Dolores, Joplin, MO, Denis Austin and wife Jennifer, Navato, CA., three step children from her second marriage; Mark Parnell and wife Lisa, Joplin, MO, Jennifer Shouse and husband Kevin, Bentonville, AR., Pam Krtek and husband, Rick, Miller MO., 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Bruce Davis.
She will be remembered for her caring spirit. Many years of her life were dedicated to caring for both children and the elderly. She was also a wonderful dancer and dance instructor and we know she is now dancing in heaven.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Harmony Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden cemetery, Lamar, MO. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home, Webb City, MO.
