Robert William ‘Bob’ Pitts, age 79, Joplin, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Monday, July 07, 2014 at his home after an illness.
Bob was born March 5, 1935 in Harrah, Oklahoma. He had lived in Joplin the past 30 years, moving from Arkansas.
Bob worked for the Maricopa, Arizona Sheriff's Department as a deputy for over 20 years. He was also a member of the departments’ S.W.A.T. Team. When not on law enforcement duty, Bob stayed busy working in construction. When he moved to Joplin, he owned and operated Bob Pitts Concrete Construction.
Bob was an active member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) and SASS (Single Action Shooting Society). He was known by the handle, ‘Quirt’. Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
He married Sonja Sellman on August 1, 1958 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She survives at the home.
Addition survivors include his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son and s sister.
Bob will be taken for cremation. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
