Marie Samson, age 89, of Joplin, Mo., a former Bentonville, Ark. area resident passed away at 11:50 a.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Communities of Wildwood Ranch in Joplin following a three year illness. Marie was born January 18, 1925 in Hundred, West Virginia. She moved to Joplin in 2011 from Bentonville. She was a former member of the Rogers Christian Church, and a member of the Benton County Senior Citizen Center.
Marie married Donavon R. Samson Sr. October 12, 1945 in Charlotte, North Carolina and he survives. Additional survivors include two daughters, Karen Ruark and her beloved friend, Carl Carlson, Joplin, Mo. and Donna Dean and husband Dan, Swanton, Oh., two sons, Donavon Samson II, Joplin, and Steven Samson and wife Julie, Granger, In., four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, and two sisters.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m.Monday at the Fayetteville, Arkansas National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
