Gary Scott Curtis, age 69, Joplin, passed away at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Freeman West Hospital after an illness.
Gary was born July 10, 1944 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Ruben Curtis and Patsy Gentle Curtis and had lived in the Joplin area the past 21 years.
Gary worked as an over the road truck driver for many years. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys; step children, Linda and Eric Runnels, Robyn and Justin Dobbs; grandchildren, Madison and Gavin Dobbs; sister and brother-in-law, Letha and Dr. Dennis Smith; one nephew; two nieces and several other extended family members.
Gary has been taken for cremation. The family will bury his cremains at Fort Scott National Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary
