Loretta Elaine Lagow, age 90, of Joplin, passed away on Thursday July 10, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, following an illness.
Loretta was born on September 6, 1923 in Ute, Iowa, the daughter of the late Arzie and Allie (Gamet) Stephenson. She married Glenn C. Lagow on January 6, 1945 in Rock Falls, Illinois. Together they raised three children. She was a long time member of Christ’s Community United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Pathfinder’s. She was also a member of Beta Sigma, PAI, and Home Extension. She was an avid card player and a collector of many types of turtles. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by one son, Stephen Lagow and wife Margaret, Joplin; two daughters, Beth Smith and husband John, Cherryvale, Ks., and Ellen Warders and husband Larry, Silver Lake, Ks.; one sister, Lorraine Bender, Rock Falls, Il.; six grandchildren, Heath Warders, Erin Warders, Amy Smith, Tiffany Smith, Stephanie DeTar, and Danielle Lagow; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Christ’s Community Methodist Church. Reverend Chris Sloan and Reverend Bob Dart will officiate. Burial will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-5 pm. Sunday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to Christ’s Community United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the mortuary.
