Asa Moss

(From Buchanan Funeral Home)

Asa F. Moss, 88, of Monett, MO, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2021, while at Bentonview Health and Rehab Center in Monett.

Asa was born on January 21, 1932 in rural Sarcoxie, MO, son of the late Fird Henry Moss and Edith Augusta (Bryan) Moss. Asa received his education in Sarcoxie.

In April of 1952, Asa enlisted in the United States Army, serving a year and four months of his military service overseas. He was honorably discharged on July 16, 1954 as a Corporal.

During his working years, Asa drove a truck for Friend Tire and later worked in Maintenance for Jumping Jack Shoe Co. Asa attended New Site Baptist Church for the past several years. He also enjoyed playing rummy, checkers and dominoes, jigsaw puzzles, rebuilding and selling cars as well as he was a member of the McDonald’s coffee club. The greatest joy in life came from spending time with his children and grandchildren.

On April 9, 1952 in Eureka Springs, AR, Asa married Georgia Joyce Isbell. To this union, two daughters were born. They were blessed with over sixty-five years together before her passing on December 3, 2017. Asa’s day of welcoming to heaven was also Georgia’s birthday. We are sure it was a beautiful day of celebration.

Asa was also preceded in death by his siblings, Carl Moss, Gene Moss, T. Oren Moss, Cleta Standerfer, Crystal Burkey, Doris Uber, Gale Moss and Maxe Moss.

Asa is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Ellen Aldridge and Terry Lynn Moller, and husband Randy, all of Monett; four grandchildren, Kent A. Aldridge, Kyle A. Aldridge and wife Courtney A. Aldridge, Colt L. Moller and wife Jennifer A. Moller and Casey B. Moller; one great-granddaughter, Alice N. Aldridge; great-grand-dog, Que; and a host of extended family and friends.

Interment and military honors will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.
