(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Mary Frances Reavis, 86 of Joplin, Missouri passed from this life on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, MO.
Mary was born June 13, 1934 in Picher, Oklahoma to the late Alvin Temple Harris and Ruth Mae (Hulsey) Harris, and had lived in Joplin since 1993.
Mary moved to Baxter Springs, KS at the age of 9 and attended elementary and high school there graduating with the class of 1952.
She married Bill K. Reavis on March 25, 1951. He preceded her in death December 26, 1989.
Mary retired from Sears, Roebuck & Co in 1990 as service supervisor in Macon, MO for 7 years then Moberly, MO for 10 years.
She had been a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) since age 9 and a member of the First Christian Church of Joplin since 1994, where she sang in the choir and had been financial secretary for many years, along with serving as deacon. She had been an active member of the Joplin Area Welcome Club, former member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha and Federated Woman’s Club.
Mary is survived by daughter, Cyndi Pierce (Phil) of Springfield, MO; sons, Rev. Curtis Reavis of Sedalia, MO, and Craig Reavis (Delores) of Macon, MO; 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; brother, Charles Harris (Fern) of Kansas City, MO.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Lorraine Hamlin; brother, Alvin Harris; daughter-in-law, Ruby Reavis.
Graveside services will be held at 11:15 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Rev. Curtis Reavis will officiate. Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am., Saturday morning at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel.
