Dawn Bushnell

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Dawn Bushnell was born February 12, 1928 in Ivanhoe, Minnesota, one of three children to Joe and Wilda (Joynt) Bushnell. He entered into rest on January 25, 2021 at the age of 92.

Dawn moved to the southwest Missouri area at a young age and lived on the farm purchased by his family in 1937. He built residential homes, worked as an inspector at Teledyne-Rocketdyne, but his true love was farming.

In his later years, you would find him with his dog Scout sitting on the porch watching his cattle. Dawn was a very soft spoken man, had a great sense of humor and loved sharing stories. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Neosho.

Dawn and Lavaun (Stone) were married on October 18, 1947 in Neosho and she survives.

In addition to his wife of 73 years, he is survived by two daughters, Donna VanOtterloo of Joplin and Toni Scott of Pineville, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Jonathan (Heather) VanOtterloo, Paul (Kathy) VanOtterloo, Lee (Shelley) VanOtterloo, Kirsten (Brian) Scott and Sheila Pesce and great grandchildren, Marcus Scott, Tia Vogel, Mindy VanOtterloo, Katrina Hill, Ryan Roberts, and Scott Roberts.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Penny Bushnell; sister, Joye Murphy and brother, Sheldon Bushnell.
