(From Knell Mortuary)Robert William Ellis, age 74, Carthage, MO, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at his home.
He was born on June 5, 1946 in Joplin, Mo, to the late Merle Glenn Ellis and Constance (Holliday) Ellis. Robert was a veteran serving his county with the United States Navy.
He married Shirley Teague on January 3, 1965 she preceded him in death on June 6, 2016.
Robert worked as a cook for the San Bernardino County Jail in Glen Helen, California, until moving back to southwest Missouri where he went to work for Cardinal Scale until his retirement.
Robert always put others first and enjoyed cooking and taking care of people. He especially enjoyed going fishing with his kids and coaching their little league teams.
He is survived by three sons, Robert Ellis (Pam), Oak Hills, California, Scott Ellis (Robyn), Carthage, Missouri, and William Ellis (Barbara), Oronogo, Missouri; a daughter, Cherylone Winningham (Mark) Carthage, Missouri; two sisters, Helen England, and Margaret Russell; seven grandchildren, Michael Ellis, Halie Pena, Chris Ellis, Ryan McInerney, Shawn McInereny, Cody Ellis, and Tyler Winningham; six great grandchildren ,Michael Ellis, Emily Ellis, Willow Ellis, Silas Pena, Jett Pena, Justina Ellis and a nephews Eric Ellis, Bradley Ellis , Cecil England, Raymond England, Michael England and Delbert Russel. Along with nieces Sabrina Ellis, Sue England, Rose Clark and Mary White.
He was also preceded in death by wife, Shirley Ann Ellis and brother, Jim Ellis.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Knell Mortuary.
