Charlie Plummer

(From Parker Mortuary)

Charles Wesley "Charlie" Plummer, 68, of Carl Junction, passed away January 21, 2021 due to COVID-19.

Charlie was born June 5, 1952 in Carthage, Missouri to Clyde Plummer and Deola Plummer Patterson. Charlie owned and operated Charles Plummer Mobile Home Moving, working daily alongside his son, Chad, and joined frequently by his father, Clyde.

This family business was started by Charlie in 1968 and he took pride in the three generations working together.

Charlie was a man of many hobbies, including bowling in his earlier years, running dune buggies at Little Sahara, and drag racing. His talent in building VW motors for racing acknowledged nationwide to this day. Charlie was happiest on Grand Lake, cruising around on his pontoon boat with family and friends.

He was a people person – he never knew a stranger and truly cared about others. Charlie was generous and helpful to those in need. He made everyone laugh and had an appreciation for the inappropriate things in life. The big, burly man had a great love for dogs – especially his little baby, Winston. All that Charlie was made this world a better place and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Courtney Renee.

Charlie’s father, Clyde, passed away shortly after him on January 22, 2021.

Survivors include his son, Chad Plummer (Tammie) of Carl Junction, and Chad’s mother, Glenda Clemons; his long-term significant other, Brenda McCollum, of Joplin; his mother, Deola Patterson; grandchildren, Ashley Garrett (Dakota) and Chase Plummer (Sadie); great-grandsons, Mackson and another on the way, Cannen; his sister, Sharon Plummer (Chandler Davidson) of Houston, Texas; three step-children, Katie, Jeremy, and Chris Cartwright; five step-grandchildren; his four-legged pride and joy, Winston; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Parker Mortuary with Pastor Bob R. Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Carl Junction Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Joplin Humane Society in care of the mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
