(From Parker Mortuary)Mildred Louise Pliler, age 73, of Joplin, Missouri passed away January 23, 2021 at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, from COVID. She was surrounded by her family.
Mildred was born on July 21, 1947 in Foster, Missouri to the late Luther Andrew McMillen and Mary Viola (Talbot) McMillen. Mildred married Dudley Bryant Pliler on March 17, 1964 in Seneca, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1995.
Mildred lived in Joplin for 38 years after her husband retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service.
Mildred worked for Benchmark Appraisal for 11 years. She also worked for Freeman Hospital for 10 years.
Anyone who knew her knows that she loved trips to Branson and that her girls were her world.
Mildred is survived by her daughters: Monica Marsh and husband, Tony; Melinda Walker and husband, Curtis; Annette Pugh and husband, Roy. Three grandchildren: Nicole Walker, Royden Pugh, and Sheena Czarnecki. Three great-grandchildren: Cate, Gabe, and Caleb Czarnecki. An honorary grandchild, Jackson Maddox. And, two sisters, Ruth Adams, and Helen Bitner.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kiersten Renee Pugh; Four brothers: Luther McMillen (Junior Wayne), Charles McMillen, James McMillen, and Lawrence McMillen. And three sisters: Kathleen Briggs, Dorothy Fannings, and Sharon Jones.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 29, at 10:00 AM at Parker Mortuary. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, January 28, from 6:00 -7:00 PM at Parker Mortuary.
