(From Derfelt Funeral Home) Christy Lea Brooks, age 48, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at her home.
Christy was born July 23, 1972 in Columbus, KS. Her parents were Donald Lee Nowlin and Barbara L Myers. She had lived in Baxter most of her life.
She graduated from Baxter High School in 1990. She had attended First Assembly of God, Baxter Springs. She enjoyed painting, going to flea markets, and caring for pet dogs.
Surviving is one son, Taylor Grant Brooks, Joplin, MO; one daughter Sydney Danielle Brooks, Lawrence, KS; her mother, Barbara Myers, Baxter Springs, her father, Donald Nowlin, Fairland, OK; one brother, John Nowlin (wife, Sandy), Commerce, OK; and one sister, Kimberly Dawn Stith, Purdy, MO.
Her former husband, James Brooks preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 29, 2021 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, KS. Burial will be in Quaker Valley Cemetery, Riverton, KS.
The family will receive friends from 6:00- 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, KS.
