Katy Hendricks

Phyllis Kay “Katy” Hendricks, age 78, Joplin, Missouri passed away January 25, 2021 at Freeman Hospital, Joplin.

Katy was born on February 4, 1942 to the late William Roy Douse and Retha Alice (Robinson) Douse. She had lived in the Joplin area most of her life. 

 Katy had worked as a nurse’s aide for approximately 15 years, and then for Wal-Mart as a head clerk. However, she was most proud of being a homemaker and raising her two children. 






 

Katy was very strong in her faith and loved the lord. She was full of life and never met a stranger. Katy had an infectious laugh and a smile that could light up the room. She loved adventure, including trips to Wal-Mart, Dollar General and local Flea Markets. Together with her husband Kip, they owned and operated NU-2-YU Thrift Store in Nevada, Missouri for many years. Katy cherished the time spent with her family, and precious dog Pepe. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Katy was united in marriage to Frank “Kip” Hendricks on December 7, 2006, in Joplin, Missouri. Together they shared 14 years before her passing. He survives at the home.

In addition to her parents, Katy was preceded in death by her sister, Nola Jean Barngrover.

In addition to her husband Katy is also survived by her son, David “Bubba” Wilson; daughter, Debra Stidham and husband, Scrap; step-children, Steven Hendricks, Nathan Hendricks; grandchildren, Mariah Wilson, Josie Schick, Mikayla Wilson; sister, Lonene Dye; brother, Mark Douse; together with several additional extended family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary. Interment to follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
