(From Parker Mortuary)Jimmie Lee Wood, 78, of Bentonville, Arkansas, formerly of Joplin, passed away at 3:12 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2021 in the comfort of his home.
Jim was born June 4, 1942 in Joplin to the late Basil and Gladys (Belk) Wood. He was a lifetime area resident.
Jim worked as a journeyman carpenter and spent his working career at Braeckel’s in Joplin. He also served his country in the Army National Guard from 1963-1969. Family meant everything to Jim and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.
Jim married Carrol Stanley on September 25, 1964 in Joplin. They were married 55 wonderful years before her passing on November 8, 2019.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was also preceded in death by three siblings, Joanne Alumbaugh, Patty Wood, and Richard Wood.
Survivors include his children, Lesha Patterson and husband, Bret, of Bentonville, Arkansas, Doug Wood of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Jeff Wood and wife, Marlee of Springfield, Missouri, and Whitney DeNeen and husband, Scott, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; brother-in-law, Randy Stanley; and sister-in-law, Mary Kay Thompson.
No formal services are planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
