(From Simpson Funeral Home)Roberta Ann Turgeon, age 80 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin. She was born in Bolivar, Missouri on October 24, 1940 to Henry Tennison and Ella (Wehrenberg) Tennison.
Berta was in nursing for many years in the hospital setting and private care. She attended Lone Hill Elementary, Verona High School, and Solano College in Fairfield, California.
Berta lived for many years in rural Verona, Missouri and married Max A. Johnson who preceded her in death on December 24, 1957. She married Kenneth Turgeon on February 2, 1987 in Reno, Nevada and he preceded her in death on June 8, 2010.
She moved to California in 1964 and resided in Vacaville, California and returned to Missouri in 2011. Berta is survived by sons, Kevin Johnson of Copperas Cove, Texas, Raymond Johnson of Joplin, Missouri; daughter, Heather Papp of Chandler, Arizona; sister, Helen Nicklas of Verona, Missouri; brother, Jim Tennison of Monett, Missouri; aunt, Tennie Tennison of Monett, Missouri; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenton Johnson. Berta’s wishes were to be cremated and the family will have services at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
