(From Paul Thomas Funeral Home)Colleen Gay McClain of Joplin, MO passed from this life Sunday, January 17, 2021 at her home. She was 85.
Colleen was born May 19, 1935 in Picher, OK to George William and Evelyn Pearl (Stuart) Hughes. She had lived in Joplin for the past 5 months moving from Broken Arrow, OK. She had lived in the Picher and Miami area most of her life.
Colleen graduated from Picher High School class of 1953. She was a child care giver for 15 years and also worked as a church custodian. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Joplin, MO, and held various positions in church especially with primary children. She belonged to Relief Society at the church.
Colleen was preceded in death by two husbands , Acie Ash and James McClain, one son Steven Ash, her parents, three brothers Bill Hughes, Ron Hughes and Donnie Hughes and two sisters Carol Jones and Janet Kay Hughes.
Survivors include three sons Randy Ash of Miami, OK, Mike Ash and wife Julie of Pensacola, FL and Keith Ash and wife Dana of Broken Arrow, OK, two sisters JoAnn Molinar of Joplin, MO and Kathy White of Joplin, MO, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Welch Cemetery in Welch, OK. Elder Robert Gilbert and Colleen’s family will officiate.
