(From Paul Thomas Funeral Home)Dale Gene “Cookie” Hurst of Commerce, OK passed from this life Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK. He was 70.
Cookie was born April 23, 1950 in Miami, OK to Harry F. and Beulah Mae (Shawgo) Hurst. He had lived in the Commerce area all his life. He graduated from Commerce High School class of 1968, N.E.O. A &M College in Miami, OK and Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS.
Cookie was an auto body teacher at Commerce High School and Franklin Technical School in Joplin, MO. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard. He was a member of the Miami Elks Lodge No 1320 and was a past Exalted Ruler, Leading Knight and Trustee.
Cookie was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Harold Wayne Hurst, 2 sisters Barbara Louise Hurst and Sue Benedict.
Survivors include 2 daughters Kimberly Dawn Hurst and wife Kathryn Jansen of Tulsa, OK and Shauna Kay Glazier and husband Will of Commerce, OK and 1 sister Cheryl Blankenship Ramirez of Quapaw, OK.
Celebration of Life Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Southeast Baptist Church in Commerce, OK. Derek Black will officiate.
