Bob Kuehn

Robert Allen Kuehn Sr. of Baxter Springs, Kansas, passed Thursday, January 28, 2021, with his loved ones around him. Bob was born April 4, 1943, in Evansville, Indiana. His parents were Charles Fred Kuehn Sr. and Ruth (Schellhase) Kuehn. 

Bob was united in marriage to Beverly Jean (Coleman) Kuehn on July 27, 1963, at the First Presbyterian Church in Baxter Springs, Kansas.

Bob graduated from Baxter Springs High School in 1961. He then went to Kansas State College of Pittsburg, Kansas where he received his BS in Education in 1965. While he was in college he was a member of the TKE fraternity and ROTC. 








Following graduation, he taught in Jasper, Mo, where he was very active in all student activities. He encouraged students to be involved by being a sponsor of many activities, bus driver, cheerleading, etc. While in Jasper, he and Beverly were youth leaders for the senior youth group at Jasper Christian Church.

Bob started Kuehn Construction in 1971 and moved his family to Grove, OK. In 1980, he moved his family to California working as the Vice President of Goodman Church Builders SW Division. In 1989 the family moved back to Baxter Springs, KS where he continued his working days with Kuehn Construction. He did enjoy his second job for a window of time working at American Airlines at Joplin Airport.

Bob was a man who loved his Lord, his family, and grandchildren above all else. As a member of the community, Bob was always available to anyone that was in need. He frequently had guests at his front door that needed small house repairs. His grandchildren said that he set an amazing example of generosity. Anytime Bob was around he was making sure all were smiling and laughing.

Bob is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Bev Kuehn, of the home; two daughters, Melendy (Kuehn) Green, and husband Leslie, of Baxter Springs, KS; Carol Michelle Kuehn, of Baxter Springs, KS; one son, Robert Kuehn Jr., and wife Michona, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kyrie Leigh Gerdes, Michael Allen Kuehn, Ashley Michelle Kuehn Wison, Katherine Ruth Kuehn, and one great-grandchild, Zaydon William Ray Kuehn Wilson and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mitchell Kuehn; his parents, Charlie and Ruth Kuehn and his brother Charles Fred Kuehn Jr.

There will be a visitation from 2:00-3:00 pm, Sunday, January 31, at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, KS

Funeral services will be held by Wes Davis at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 1, 2021 at Grace Community Church, Riverton, KS. Burial will immediately follow at Baxter Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made on behalf of the family to help defray expenses in care of the funeral home.
