(From Ozark Funeral Home)Murray W. Ryan, of Goodman, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021, in Anderson, Missouri.
He was born November 17, 1925, in Chatham Ontario, Canada, to the late Harry and Helen Ryan. He entered the U.S. on July 31, 1929. He attended school in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated high school in Fulton, Missouri.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps form January 1944, to January 1972, retiring as a Master Gunnery Sergeant, serving in WWII, where he was wounded in the battle of Iwo Jima, Korea and had two tours of duty in Vietnam.
After retiring he attended Fresno (California) City College and Fresno State University. He then moved to Goodman in April 1987.
He and the former Mary Giles, of Goodman, Missouri, were married on January 9, 1996, she survives. Also surviving are four sons, Michael of Auberry, California, Timothy of Phoenix, Arizona, Kevin of Clovis, California, twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Sivyer of Livonia, Michigan, and Audrey Gerald of Orman Beach, Florida, one daughter, Christine Ryan of Sparks, Nevada, and one son, Daniel of Fresno, California.
He was a member and Past Master of Anderson Masonic Lodge, Joplin Scottish Rite and Mirza Shrine Temple, in Pittsburg, Kansas.
He will be greatly missed.
Murray will lie in state on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Anderson Ozark Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private burial will be held for the family at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
