Delores Crume-Brooks

Delores Mae Crume-Brooks, age 91, Joplin, Missouri passed away at Spring River Christian Village on January 27, 2021.

Delores was born on November 19, 1929 in Wichita, Kansas to the late Charles Wilford Arnce and Hazel (Freel) Arnce. She had lived in the Joplin area most of her life. Delores worked many years at a local daycare.

Delores was a long-time member of Joplin Full Gospel Church. She loved the Lord and the time spent with her church family. Delores had a smile that could light up the room and a great sense of humor. 








She loved going on adventures, not always telling the granddaughters where they were headed, but were generally to some of her most favorite places. She loved early morning breakfasts at McDonalds, Sonic burgers and banana splits (no nuts!). Delores was an avid Family Feud watcher, and did not miss an episode. She cherished the time spent with family and the special memories created. Delores will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Delores was united in marriage to Rev. William G. Crume on October 18, 1952 in Joplin, Missouri. To this union one daughter Debby Crume was born. Together they shared 30 years before his passing on January 31, 1983. Delores remarried on April 5, 1986 to Perle “Jack” V. Brooks. Together they shared 23 years before his passing on July 24, 2009.

In addition to both husbands, Delores was also preceded in death by a sister Kathaleen Arnce.

Delores is survived by her daughter, Debby Chaligoj and husband, Jim; granddaughters, Amberly Downs and husband Russell, Jami Chaligoj; great grandchildren, Clarissa Chaligoj, Brendyn Downs, Greyson Chaligoj, Benjamin Thompson, Natalie Thompson; together with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Joplin Full Gospel Church with Pastor Josh Patrick and Joyce Myers officiating. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
