Shirley Daniels

Shirley Sue Daniels, age 73, of Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Shirley, daughter of the late Noah and Juanita (Holland) Lewis, was born on July 6, 1947 in Joplin. She was raised and attended school in Joplin. She was previously employed at Walmart in Joplin after she returned from Houston, Texas where she lived for over 20 years working in retail. 

On January 25, 1971 she was united in marriage to Tommy Lee Daniels. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1991. 








Shirley loved the Lord and was grateful for every day she was given here on earth. She loved her family, Elvis and Willy Nelson. She was an avid reader and loved to crochet, giving many of her blankets to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never met a stranger or missed an opportunity to see the very best in people around her. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her two sons, Roy Dale Daniels, Joplin, and David Lynn Lewis, and his wife, Myra, of Texas; step-children, Frances Prescott, and her husband, Billy, Carol Wells, and her husband, Mike, Linda Schexanayider, and her husband, Kenneth, and Mildred Ford, and her husband, Gil; grandchildren David Lewis Jr., and his wife, Miriam, with their children, Jesse, Samuel, and Midium, Johnathon, and his wife, Elaine, and their children, Kylie, Nicolas, Mackenzie, and Ryan, Desiree Pozos, and her husband, Ricardo, and children, Noah and Zoe, Devin, Maria, Victor, Devina, and Jimmy; one sister, Norma Frakes, of Joplin; her sister-in-law, Cathy Lewis; two nephews, Chris Coppenbarger and Derrick Frakes; and her constant companion her dog Lucky. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Dean Lewis, and James Henry Lewis; a nephew, James Wesley Lewis; a step-son, Tommy Lee Jr; and step-daughter, Joyce Human.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Osborne Cemetery in Joplin. Friends may pay their respects from 9:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12th in the chapel of Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Meals-on-Wheels program or to the organization of donor’s choice and may be entrusted to the mortuary.

The family would like to thank Integrity Homecare and Gail Moore for her friendship and wonderful care that she gave Shirley.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
