Mrs. Alice Marie Hatfield, age 84, of Webb City, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin following an illness.
Alice was born on October 7, 1931, in Webb City, Missouri, to the union of the late Homer Lee Ryan and Ethel Elizabeth (Yeager) Ryan. On May 30, 1962, she was united in marriage to Jack T. Hatfield and together they shared almost 22 years before his passing on January 13, 1984. Alice was a devoted homemaker and she also worked the front desk at Parkway Cleaners in Webb City for 20 years. She was of the Baptist faith and she greatly enjoyed spending her free time cooking and sewing.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth; a brother, Lee Ryan; two sisters, Viola Stapleton and Mary Ann Ryan; and three nephews, Larry, Jerry, and Jessie James Stapleton.
Alice is survived by two step-daughters, Janet Daugherty of Moundville, Missouri, and Judy Haggard of Nevada, Missouri; two step-grandsons, John Haggard of Nevada, Missouri, and Lance Haggard of Independence, Missouri; four nephews, Danny Ryan of Webb City, Missouri, Jack Stapleton of Saginaw, Missouri, David Stapleton of Joplin, Missouri, and Jim Stapleton of Webb City, Missouri; three nieces, Blinda Asbell of Webb City, Carroll Smith of Carl Junction, Missouri, and Cheryl Sparlin of Joplin, Missouri; and a friend and companion, Dale Johnson, of Galesburg, Missouri.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Hatfield will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Carterville Cemetery with Pastor Bill Hobson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18 at Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home.
