Cannie Louise Gardner, age 100, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 in Joplin, Missouri. She was born December 27, 1915 in Harrisburg, Missouri, daughter of the late William Gillum and Kate South Gillum.
Louise was united in marriage to Harry D. Gardner on May 19, 1939. She lost the love of her life on October 8, 1983 after 44 wonderful years.
Louise was a homemaker and was also employed by Sears after her children were grown. She lived in Kansas City, Missouri for over 40 years before moving to Columbia, Missouri where she had many friends and relatives. She moved to Joplin 18 years ago to be nearer family. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she attended the Koinonia Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by 4 sisters, one brother, a daughter-in-law, Jean Gardner, and a grandson, Michael Gardner.
She is survived by her sons, Don Gardner and wife Nancy of Leesburg, Texas, Larry Gardner of Frisco, Texas, Michael Gardner and wife Linda of Joplin; 12 grandchildren,
28 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 until 1:30 on Thursday, July 7th at Parker Mortuary Chapel with funeral services following at 1:30 with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, Missouri on Friday, July 8th at 2:00 with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Koinonia Class at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
