Elsie N. Griffitt of Lamar, age 88, left her home at the Truman Healthcare facility Tuesday July 26 and went to her eternal home to be with her family and her Heavenly Father.
Elsie was born January 5th, 1928 in Lamar, MO, to Walter Lee and Julia “Pearl” Amelia (Seybold) Williams. She lived in Lamar all her life. As a young Lady she married Jeff Griffitt and they latter were divorced. They were the parents of 2 sons, Kenny and Dean Griffitt, and a daughter Reta (Steve) Crews.
She started working at Chastain's Nursing Home, currently Truman Health Care, as a nurse's aide and med-tech in 1975. Later She worked very very hard at O’Sullivan’s retiring in 1990 due to declining health. She was always a faithful Christian Lady and was very involved with her Church until she was unable to attend. Even then she continued to enjoy the Christian ministry programming on TV.
She was a loving Grandmother of 7, Mandy (Lamond) Comer, Carly (Rob) Copher, Jessie Williams, Tracey Whitley, Aaron (Kristen) Crews, Anthony Crews and Renea Watson; and 17 great grandchildren Hanna, Jacob and Zeek Comer, Emily and Cullen Copher, Corwin, Keegen and Luke Williams, Toby McIver (and Kaylee Baysnett), Sabrina Spilman, Riley Henson, Ryan and Evan Crews, Kaden and Terrin McDowell, and Madison and Jordyn Watson. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Susie Griffitt, who was a faithful in her visits and keeping her family informed and her Truman health care family. She will be missed by her family, who say, ”we know we will be with our mother again and be able to rejoice again at that reunion. We love you”
