Kay Adams

Catherine M. “Kay” Adams, age 91, of Wheaton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016, in Lacoba Homes, Monett, Missouri.

She was born November 2, 1924 in Pioneer, Missouri, the daughter of Davison Gray and Lela (Jones) McMillen. She was united in marriage to James L. Adams who preceded her in death on December 3, 1958. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, James Edward McMillen.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn M. Potter and her husband John, Sr. of Wheaton, and Andrea L. Henderson and her husband Dwight of Independence, Missouri; two sisters, Peggy Reed of Neosho, Missouri and JoeAnn Jump of Purdy, Missouri; five grandchildren, Brandon Thornton of Flower Mound, Texas, Brian Thornton of Wheaton, Kayla Alumbaugh of Kansas City, Missouri, John Potter II of Exeter, Missouri and Christopher Potter of Monett, Missouri; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Kay received her elementary education at Swindle College in Barry County and graduated from Wheaton High School with the Class of 1943. For several years she was employed at Columbia Glass and Window Company in Kansas City, Missouri as a payroll clerk. In 1989 she moved back to southwest Missouri to make her home and for several years worked at St. John's Home Health. Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking, gardening and crocheting and especially spending time with her grandkids.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.
