Irvin Block

Irvin Block, 95, of Carthage Mo passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Carthage Health and Rehab. He was born January 22, 1921 in Jasper County, Missouri to Ydo Block and Flora “Spor” Block. He was a lifetime resident of Jasper County and was a farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Army from July 1942- November 1945. He loved working in his garden and loved his flowers.

Irvin was united in marriage to Josephine Matthews on June 21, 1941 in Carthage. She passed away January 24, 2016.

Survivors include 2 sons, Walter Block (Sherry) of Carthage and Larry Block (Diana) of Carthage, 2 daughters, Barbara Linder (Ray) of Golden City and Sylvia Bader (Bill) of Carthage, 3 brothers, Teddy Block of Eagle Rock, Rex Block of Joplin, and Cecil Block of Sarcoxie, 3 sisters, Christina Craft of Hamptonville NC, Wanda Dennison of Denver CO, and Shirley Deubert of Joplin, 11 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by one brother Kenneth Block and one sister Irene Hughey.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to services on Tuesday. Officiating will be Ray Linder and Bill Bader. Pallbearers will be Jeff Bader, Bryan Block, Marty Block, Kevin Linder, Jacob Bowen, and Rustin Khal. Burial will be in Diamond Cemetery in Diamond, Missouri. Contributions may be given to Disabled Veterans in care of the Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.ulmerfh.com.
