Mr. Ronald Vernon “Ron” Burge, age 76, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, July 3, 2016, in the comfort of his home, after months of declining health.
Ron entered this life on May 13, 1940, in Ionia, Kansas, one of seven children born to the late Oscar and Thora (Smith) Burge. His formative years were spent in the states of Kansas and Nebraska. On November 14, 1959, he was united in marriage to Charlene Hagan and to this union three children were born. Ron held many vocational trades throughout his life. He enjoyed woodworking and was considered a “Jack of all Trades”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlene Burge on July 2, 1984; four brothers, Melvin, Marlin, Kenneth and Dean Burge; and one sister, Wanda Burge.
Ron is survived by his three children, Tony Burge and wife, Candy, Gailene Baker and husband, Clint and Danny Burge and wife, Tiffany, all of Anderson, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Tammy Worley and husband, Darrell, of Cassville, Missouri and Melissa Burge of Neosho, Missouri; twenty grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; a brother, Dale Burge of Goodman, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Burge will be held graveside on Saturday July 9, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Union Cemetery near Longview, Missouri. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Matt Burge, Randy Baker, Jamee Burge, Darrell Gourley, Troy Burge, Kassie Garcia and Dustin Rhoades. Rachell Jackson, Tisha Gourley, Cody Garcia, Heather Rebold and Johnna Burge will be serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
