Piper June Gottes, age 58, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at her home after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease, ALS.
Piper was born August 10, 1957 in Joplin, daughter of the late William Paul Gottes and Doretta June Harris Gottes. She graduated from Baxter High School, and has been a manager with Kum n Go convenience stores for many years. In addition to her parents, Piper was preceded in death by her grandparents.
She is survived by her wife, Toby Ellison , whom she married on November 24, 2014 in Sacramento, California after 16 years together; her stepson , Brandon Ellison of Sacramento, California; sisters: Paula Gottes (Charlie) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Pamela Skaggs (Steve) of Joplin, Patrice Spence (Kenneth) of Baxter Springs, Kansas, brother, Paul Gottes (Kelly) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, step mother, Mary Edigers (Leroy) of Chanute, Kansas; nieces and nephews, Minta Spence, Chandra Spence (Chris White), Reed Spence (Catie), Joshua Gottes, Delany Gottes, Greg Kamal, Piper McDaniel; great nieces and nephews, A.J. and Colton White, Heath and C.J Spence
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Parker Mortuary from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friends and family are encouraged to come and share hugs, stories, laughter and tears, while remembering Piper.
