Michael W. Neden, 63, Carthage, MO, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 surrounded by his family, at his home. Michael Wayne Neden was born August 21, 1952 in Kansas City, MO to Francis W. Neden and Margaret E. (Cowen) Neden. He graduated from Ft. Scott Christian Heights School, Class of 1970. Michael married Karren Lucile Messick on June 9, 1972 in El Dorado Springs, MO. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971-1975 including 2 tours in Thailand. He graduated from Pittsburg State University and received his BSED (1978) and MSED (1982). He was a technology education teacher for 37 years, and was a member of several professional technology education associations. He worked as a technology education professor at Pittsburg State University for the past 17 years. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife, Karren; daughter, Tracy Williams (husband Kristopher), Overland Park, KS; son, Ryan Neden (wife Lara), Carterville, MO; and daughter, Casey Morrison (husband Stephen), Topeka, KS; seven grandchildren; father, Wayne Neden; three brothers Kerry Neden, Terry Neden, and Joe Neden; and sister, Debbie Baumgartner.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Neden.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., July 7, 2016 at the Church of the Nazarene, Carthage. Ministers Jim Dillow and Dustin Ledford will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Ft. Scott National Cemetery, Ft. Scott, KS. Memorial gifts are suggested to P.S.U. Technology Education Alumni Scholarship in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO 64836.
