Sharon Wulfekammer

Sharon Ann (Bergschneider) Wulfekammer, 77, of Joplin, MO, formerly of Pittsburg, KS, passed away at 3:43 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO. 

She was born February 13, 1939, at Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Herbert and Gladys (Ryan) Bergschneider. On August 27, 1961, she was united in marriage to John Ryland Wulfekammer at Buckner, MO. He survives of the home, Joplin, MO. Sharon graduated salutatorian from Fort Osage High School, Independence, MO. She received her undergraduate degree in Education from University of Missouri Columbia and her Master's in Education from Fort Hays State College. Sharon taught in the Liberty and Buckner, MO and Hays, KS, school districts. She also taught many years in Pittsburg, KS, at St. Mary's, Eugene Field and Westside schools. After retiring, Sharon also substituted in the Carl Junction, Webb City and Joplin school districts. Membership was held in the Peace Lutheran Church, Joplin, MO. Sharon was nominated for 1994 Kansas Master Teacher. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile at Mirza Temple, Pittsburg. She was also an active member and held offices in Delta Kappa Gamma. She was active and the President of Mended Hearts in Joplin. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by, one son, Eric Wulfekammer and his wife, Vicki of Plano, TX, two grandsons, Alex and Nathan Wulfekammer, one sister, Donna Battles of Buckner, MO, one brother, Ethan Bergschneider of Merritt Island, FL, and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Grimes of Maryland Heights, MO, and Leanna Bergschneider of Austin, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Beryl Bergschneider and one sister-in-law, Mona Bergschneider. 

A service for Sharon will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2016, at the St. John Lutheran Church, Pittsburg, with Pastor Tom Wehrman officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at the Buckner Hill Cemetery, Buckner, MO, after the family receives friends from 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Speaks Buckner Chapel (300 Adams St., Buckner, MO 64016). The family suggests memorials to the Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Louis, MO. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
