Donald J. Montgomery, 75, lifelong resident of Seneca, MO, passed away July 19, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin after an illness.
Donald Joe Montgomery was born January 1, 1941 in Seneca, MO the son of Samuel D. and Virginia (Mills) Montgomery. Donnie worked for years with the Local 63 as an Asbestos Worker. He was very involved with Seneca and was a big supporter of the youth. Donnie was instrumental in the building of the Seneca baseball fields, volunteering many hours physically building the original baseball complex. Donnie enjoyed sports including boxing. He was Golden Glove Champion. He enjoyed his time with the coffee drinkers at Big Daddy’s and at Mama’s Place where he would discuss politics and how proud he was of his grandkids. He loved his community and wanted to see it continue to grow and prosper. Donnie was of the Baptist Faith.
Donald Joe Montgomery married Donna Jean Enyart, July 19, 1963, in Wyandotte, OK and she survives.
Additional survivors include, two daughters, Kim Jumper, Seneca and Fonda Crouch and husband Shannon, Webb City, MO; six grandchildren, Jonathan Trim, Cheyna Crouch, Cristian Trim, Bradley Jumper, Cade Crouch and Cooper Crouch; one sister, Rosemary Goswick, Racine, MO and a host of friends.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Virginia Montgomery and one brother Michael Montgomery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM, Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, Seneca. Following the visitation funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM with Bro. Aaron Weibel officiating. Following funeral services, the body will be taken for cremation.
