Virginia D. Fairchild, 95, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2016.
She was born to Harold and Lelia Hill on May 19, 1921 in Joplin, Missouri. She married the loved of her life, Charles W. Fairchild, on May 22, 1940. She is survived by two sons, Paul W. Fairchild of Rogersville, MO and Charles Glen Fairchild of Springfield, MO; a daughter Dee Lynn Fairchild Davey and husband John of Conroe, TX; her grandchildren Paul Fairchild Jr., Todd Fairchild, Cara Davey Lycan, Mark Davey, Jeff Fairchild, Thad Taylor, Cami Davey Keitel, Matt Fairchild, Brice Taylor, Justin Fairchild, Tiffany Fairchild Young and Joseph Fairchild and their respective spouses. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death her husband Charles, her daughter Lee Anne Fairchild Sweezy, her brother Marc Hill, two grandsons John and Sean Davey and great grandson Sean Lycan.
Virginia ran Fairchild’s Grocery Store in Saginaw, MO, but devoted most of her life to her family. Known by most as Granny, she and Gramps enjoyed travelling, dancing, and bridge with friends. She was a scout leader for her children and provided a home where their friends were always welcome. She provided countless opportunities for family to gather with weekly Sunday dinners, festive holiday celebrations and vacation fun establishing strong family ties.
Virginia was loved by all that knew her. She will be missed dearly but lives on in the hearts and memories of the family legacy created by her and Charlie.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Saturday, July 16, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
