Bobby Alms

Bobby Joe Alms, age 87, of Carthage, Mo., died on July 18, 2016, at his home. He has been a lifelong area resident. 

Bob was born on November 20, 1928 in Oklahoma, the son of the late Lee and Silvia (Woods) Alms. He married Geraldine Dewitt on November 10, 1952 in Harrison, Ar. Together they had four children. Bob was a marine and served in the Korean War. Along with being a builder he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He retired from Sperry Vickers in 1984 after thirty-one years of service.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years on August 7, 2015; his parents; and a sister, June Haddock, of Rockaway Beach.

He is survived by four children, his son, Greg Alms and wife Debra Brunson, Carthage, Mo.; three daughters, Angie Shields and husband Steve, Stotts City, Mo., Marsha Hutchison and husband John, Oak Ridge, Tn., and Beth Alms, Carthage, Mo.; one sister, Judy Kersh; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside committal of ashes will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend John Newberry will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard & Crematory.
