Emma Dody

Emma L. Dody, 80, Diamond, Missouri, died July 4, 2016 at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin, following a lengthy illness. 

 Emma was born Jan. 29, 1936 in Diamond, MO, the daughter of Paul and Eva (Owens) Jeans. She graduated from Southwest Missouri State in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree and in 1970 from Central Missouri State University with a Master’s degree. She taught sixth grade at Granby for two years and then taught third grade at Sherwood Public Schools for 30 years, retiring in 1993. She returned to Diamond in 2006 from Butler, Missouri. Emma was a member of the CTA at Sherwood, serving as president for four years; she was a member of the West Central Retired Teachers and served as president for four years and was a member of the MRTA. She was a member of Diamond Improvement Group and served as president two years, she was a member of the Iris Society, loved to garden, travel and loved to cook for others. She was a member of the Diamond Christian Church and had served as Sunday School teacher as well as various committees. 

 Emma married Harold ‘Tom’ Dody in June, 1965 and he preceded her in death on November 27, 2002. She is survived by one daughter, Erica Harold and husband, Kevin of Diamond; two grandchildren, Abigail Harold and Thomas Harold; three sisters, Iris Daniel and husband, Jack; Judy Yoder and husband, Chuck and Janice Stirewalt and husband, Larry, all of Diamond and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO
